๐ฎ Dev Insight: Why So Many Binary Choices
Added 2025-07-15 14:38:34 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
I had a good chat recently about the more binary-looking choices in Chapters 2 and 3, things like โDo you want NTR content?โ or โWill this scene happen or be skipped entirely?โ
I figured others might be wondering about this too, so hereโs a breakdown of why those decisions exist and how things will start to shift in Chapter 4.
Why so many binary choices?
Some of those early โeither/orโ decisions are there to help the game understand what kind of experience youโre looking for.
For example:
Do you want to see Seryk x Liora scenes?
Are you okay with Serin x Liora (which is also arguably NTR)?
Are you open to gay content?
How far do you want to go with corruption?
These early choices arenโt meant to lock you out of content permanently. Theyโre mostly there to help the game figure out what types of content youโre okay with, and filter the rest accordingly. Not everyone defines โNTRโ the same way. Some people are fine with Serin x Liora (lesbian NTR), but donโt want to see Seryk touching her. Others are okay with Thalor but not with Seryk.
So instead of asking before every single scene:
โDo you want to see Liora get cucked now? How about now?โ
-which would completely kill the pacing and immersion-
I decided itโs better to break immersion just once, early on, and let the story adjust itself quietly in the background after that.
The three options I had as a developer:
Make NTR and other content unavoidable
โ This would upset a big part of the audience who arenโt into that content at all.Hide it behind vague, cryptic choices
โ This adds โsurprise,โ but would frustrate players who feel tricked into scenes they wanted to avoid.Be upfront once, early on, with clear options
โ This lets me map out what kind of content you want to engage with, and from there, the story can flow naturally in that direction.
I went with Option 3 because it respects all player types. You still have meaningful choices within those content paths, but the game doesnโt need to constantly stop and ask for permission every step of the way.
