Be Not Afraid

This started as a gesture study, and I thought the pose suited Ambry so here we are.

Also I can’t remember if I’ve shared this before, but I wrote a short dialogue between Ambry and a friend of theirs.

“Listen, I just need a place to crash for a week or two. The Expurgatory is all riled up because I broke out of their maximum security extraplanar containment facility or whatever.”

“Maximum security… Ambry what the fuck! Are you saying there’s going to be government agents here looking for you?”

“Ha, not likely. I traversed like, four different subrealms of Wroth before re-emerging in the Wendy’s parking lot down the street.”

“Uh, okay… So, they don’t know you’re here?”

“Nah. I guess they could theoretically sniff out the place I reentered this plane by the small tachyon burst I let off when I tore my way back through the veil, but I think I managed to muffle most of it.”

“Most of it???”

“Listen, it’s seriously fine. I just need to lie low for a while, avoid street cameras, witnesses with smartphones, yada yada. You don’t mind, do you? Your apartment could fit like, ten of me.”

“Ambry, I haven’t even seen you since college. And back then you were, you know…”

“Human.”

“Human!”

“I know it’s a lot to take in. The eyes, the wings, the cool horn halo thing…”

“Yeah! Not to mention, you’re stark fucking naked.”

“Oh yeah, that too. Turns out, fusing with an entity from beyond this plane of existence gives you a lot of new perspectives. Clothes are just… blech. Besides, you’ve seen me naked before, what’s the big deal?”

“That… That was a long time ago. And you looked different back then! Even aside from the feathers.”

“I mean, yeah fair. When I fused with the entity it changed a lot of things. We sorta… reshaped ourselves together? I don’t know, this is like, the body that matches what I felt on the inside.”

“Huh. Honestly that’s kind of nice. I’m happy for you, you look good.”

“Damn right I look good. Side note, if you want to reopen that friends with benefits situation we had running in college, I for one would be super down.”

“Ambry, you just punched down my door and told me you’re on the run from the demon police. Is now really the time to proposition me for sex?”

“I mean, why not? I told you, I’m gonna be hanging out in your place for a couple weeks. Plus, like, look at me.”

“I’m trying to remember if you were this horny before becoming a four winged fuck monster, and honestly I can’t be sure.”

“Probably similar to be honest. Thing is, in this body everything is way more intense. All my senses are jacked way up, as well as... I guess my instincts? Just seeing you again, smelling you… fuck. All I’m saying is, the offer’s open.”

“…”

“I’m not hearing a no.”

“Two weeks?”

“A month tops.”

“Fine.”
